Bread & Roses Theatre Playwriting Award

The Bread & Roses Theatre Playwriting Award is a competition for plays that feature at least half of female, non-binary or gender neutral roles.

The Bread & Roses Theatre is an award-winning fringe pub theatre in London. They’re an innovative venture who seek to shine a spotlight on artistic quality and representation. For this competition, they’re looking for full-length plays which are at least 60 minutes in expected running time, and with no more than a cast of seven.

The winning play will receive:

  • Professional production at The Bread & Roses Theatre & 10% of box office income (in 2023/24)
  • Publication by The Bread & Roses Theatre & royalty from all sales
