Comedy Publishing Q&A with Troy Hewitt
Hello folks!
We’re back with a new online meetup. This one is for all you authors/aspiring authors looking to get your brand of comedy published onto bookshelves/kindles everywhere.
Maybe you had a sitcom pilot or feature script that you have been working on that you think could be fleshed out into a novel? Or maybe you have a portfolio of jokes or funny illustrations that would make a great book but don’t know next steps? Or perhaps you already have a book published but wonder if there is more that could be done with it?
Well, this is the talk for you!
We’re excited to be joined by Troy Hewitt – former commissioning editor for comedy at Vulpine Press (and long-time Comedy Crowder). Troy was involved in the commissioning of soon to be released books by great Comedy Crowd talents like YLWSQR, and is now a specialist consultant to the likes of Hachette and a raft of indies.
So join us for a deep dive Q&A where we get insights on:
- What are publishers looking for?
- Getting your manuscript into shape and into the hands of the right publisher
- Do you need an agent/what to be aware of in negotiations
- What happens after your published – exploring adaptations and spinoffs
- Landscape of comedy publishing – Comedy versus Humour
- Major publishing v Indie publishing v self-publishing
There will also be a chance for the audience to ask questions after the Q&A.
It’s a free event but spaces are limited. So if you grab a place but can’t make it please be sure to cancel your ticket so we can make it available to someone else.
The event will take place at 6pm GMT, on Monday 13th March 2023.
🎟️ You can get your ticket here 🎟️
See you there!
