The BBC have launched their Comedy Editors Access Scheme, which aims to fasttrack the careers of two individuals in scripted comedy. This pilot scheme is open to individuals with a lived experience of disability.

The Comedy Editors Access Scheme is offering two shadowing opportunities.

The first is an entry level position for an edit assistant, to be based in Manchester, Cardiff, Bristol or London, with award-winning post-production company Picture Shop.

The second is a mid-level position for an assistant editor, to be based in London, with independent B Corp Fifty Fifty and BAFTA winning production company Roughcut TV.

As well as the shadowing opportunity, the two successful individuals will each benefit from mentoring, training and a £5k grant, all with the aim of helping their career development.

In order to be eligible to apply for this cracking opportunity, you’ll need to meet the following criteria:

  • Identify as deaf, disabled and/or neurodivergent under the Equality Act 2010
  • Over 18 as of June 2023
  • Be passionate about comedy, and be able to show it!

You’ll also need to be either entry level or mid level, with some industry experience.

To apply, you’ll need to fill out an application form.

More on all that, and the full details, over on the BBC’s website!

Applications close at 12pm on Monday 10th July 2023.
