Bush Theatre’s script submission window is now open to all UK and Ireland playwrights who are not currently represented by an agent.

The London-based theatre champions new and diverse voices, and are committed to telling stories which reflect this, putting contemporary stories at the fore. They love to see entertaining and provocative works!

So if you are a playwright, are not currently represented by an agent, and have a play to share with them, then they would love to receive it during their submissions window. Submitting a play is a great way to introduce yourself to Bush Theatre, several of whose writers’ work has transferred to the West End or tour the UK.

The theatre is looking for plays which meet the following criteria:

  • Full length (60 minutes or more) and unproduced
  • In Word doc or PDF format, with the title of the play and writer’s full name as the file name.
  • Writers based in the UK or Ireland
  • Writers may only submit one play
  • Screenplays, adaptations and works in translation will not be accepted

They’ll always let you know about the final outcome of your submission and are committed to:

  • Meeting with at least 30 writers from open submissions to discuss their work
  • Sending feedback by email to at least 100 writers
  • Finding at least 2 new members of their Emerging Writers’ Group through submissions

For the full details, and to submit your play, head on over to the Bush Theatre website.

Applications close on Monday 9th January 2023.
