Channel 4 Screenwriting Course
The Channel 4 Screenwriting Course is an industry-backed development opportunity for writers who are new to television drama. You’ll receive guidance over the course of several months and produce your own one-hour television drama script.
The course, which focuses on one hour series and serial drama, will give participants an insight into how the industry works, plus firsthand experience of what it can be like to write under a television drama commission. There are places for 12 writers on the course.
Writers will be assigned a mentor who is a working script editor and industry professional, and you’ll write at least two drafts of an original, one-hour television drama between 22nd January and 1st June 2023. There will be a number of workshop weekends during the course, which will be held in London. You’ll need to attend these if you are successful!
To apply, you’ll need to submit an online application form along with your CV and one writing sample (saved as a PDF). Your writing sample can be a screenplay (film or TV), stage play or radio play. It should be between 20-130 pages long.

Applications close at 5pm on Monday 3rd October 2022.
