The 8th edition of the Sunderland Shorts Film Festival is approaching, as is the final deadline to submit your films. The festival showcases top short films from across the globe.

Please note that there is a fee to submit your film to the festival.

Sunderland Shorts Film Festival was first held in 2015, with the ambition of providing fantastic film experiences for creators and fans. Supported and facilitated by Sunderland City Council, the event is soon to hold its 8th edition. That means their submission window is open for those of you who have short films of any kind!

The festival awards films in numerous categories, including a dedicated Comedy category, Animation Category, and Audience Choice Award. Selected films will be screened during the seven-day event, and receive a festival laurel.

For your film to be eligible, it will need to be no longer than 25 minutes (including credits) and have been finished after 1st January 2020.

The 2023 festival will be held from 16th – 22th October, and is open to submissions from global creators.

To submit your film to the festival, and for the full terms and conditions, head on over to the Sunderland Shorts FilmFreeway Page.

The July deadline is on 31st July, and the final deadline on 20th August 2023.
