The DAFTAS
Calling all comedy filmmakers who are up for a challenge – the DAFTAS are now open for team registrations for their fourth instalment!
Please note that there is a fee to submit your work to this opportunity.
The DAFTAS is a competition to spoof BAFTA-nominated films. You’ll need to shoot your film in two days (between 19th January and 19th of February, on a shoestring budget.
Centered around BAFTA-nominated films, The DAFTAS celebrate the best spoof film – shot in no more than two days and on a shoestring budget.
The teams registration for the DAFTAS 2022 opens December 10th, 2022.
If you want to take part, you need to register your interest by noon of the 19th of January 2023. BAFTA-nominated films will be allocated in the evening of the 19th of January 2023 (when BAFTA announce their shortlisted nominees)… this is the point at which you pick which film to spoof.
Once you’ve had your film choice confirmed, you’ll then have till 19th of February to finish your spoof of it. When it comes time to make your film, you’ll need to:
– Shoot it in no more than two days
– Film in a resolution of 1080 or above
– Edit it down to no more than 6-minutes, including opening and closing titles
Judged by celebrated filmmakers, actors, film critics and comedians. The awards ceremony will take place in London on the 23rd of March 2023 where all shortlisted films will be screened on a big screen.
All shortlisted films will be screened to the wider audience at Brighton Fringe 2023.
Selection process
During the registration process, a registration fee of £20 is collected. You’ll need to enter your completed film by 19th of February.Shortlisted films will be announced on the 7th of March.All shortlisted films will be screened during the awards ceremony on the 23rd of March 2023 in London in presence of jury members, press and VIP. The Brighton Fringe screenings are scheduled for 13th, 20th and 27th of May 2023.To register, head on over to the DAFTAS registration form.
