The Chorts! 2024 Awards
Sunday 2nd March saw The Comedy Crowd return to the wonderful Phoenix Arts Club once again for a celebration of comedy creating excellence at the Chorts 2024 awards ✨.
Shortlisted from over 400 sketches sent in from across the globe, the 15 best Chorts! were introduced by their creators and screened to a rapt crowd of comedy creators & enthusiasts.
There were also live performances from Chorts finalists past and present including 2023 Industry Judges Pick Nikola McMurtrie, OG Chorter of Shimmer Twins fame Peter Rugman, and 2024 Chortlister Christian Jegard. The event was expertly compered by another former Chorts finalist and legendary Comedy Crowder Dave Bibby, with the Industry Judges Award, Audience Award, and brand new Female Pilot Club award presented to the winners.

INDUSTRY JUDGES AWARD WINNER
🏆 The Chorts! 2024 Industry Judges Award Winner is Rosalie Minnitt with her sketch 10 Things A Regency Woman Can’t Live Without 🏆
“At the heart of this sketch, there was a very strong comic performance – with an exciting stand-out bonkers character. There’s a real intelligence to the writing – in the space of just over a minute, there are visual jokes, prop jokes and written jokes. “Shout out to the lobotomy” made me laugh out loud as did the cursed necklace, her sisters, the bassoon and the love letters to herself. The production was strong, which helps it stand out from the crowd too. Because of the variety of different types of jokes, combined with a strong memorable central performance, for me this is the most accomplished and winner.“

Runners Up in the Industry Judges Award were Blank Peng with Why This Pigeon Was Isolated, Leah Davis with If Washing Machines Were People, and Al Nash with People From The 1960s Predict The Future.
AUDIENCE AWARD WINNER
🏆 The Chorts! 2024 Audience Award Winner is Richard Franks with his sketch Firework Safety with Neville Grimace 🏆
This is the part where you, the audience, get to cast your comedic eye over the Chortlist and have your say! Each year, a Chorts! Audience winner is crowned based on the total number of likes and laughs on each Chort! Richard’s sketch scooped the Audience Award after racking up a record breaking 1.5k+ likes in just two weeks across YouTube and Facebook 👍
Female Pilot Club Award Winner
🏆 The Chorts! 2024 Female Pilot Club Winner is Bec & Sam aka BAM! Comedy with their sketch Living With My Parents 🏆
This year saw the introduction of the Female Pilot Club award for the first time, with the winner receiving a free script consultation from Female Pilot Club founder Kay Stonham. BAM! Comedy were victorious with their viral hit video Living With My Parents.
Congratulations to the Chorts! 2024 winners and to the creators who made the Chortlist! This year saw incredible numbers of entries from across the globe once again, and we are hugely impressed by the variety of talent on show.

A huge thank you to everyone who submitted sketches to this year’s competition. Once again we had a blast watching them all, and as always there were some great entries that didn’t make the Chortlist which reflects just how truly creatively excellent you all are.
Thanks also to our 2024 Industry Judging Panel, who were Roya Eslami, Rachel Springett, Simon Nicholls, and Lynne Parker, and to Kay Stonham for judging the Female Pilot Club award.
