Chorts! 2020/21 Results

The winners of Comedy Crowd Chorts! 2020/21 contest, in association with BCG Pro, have been announced!

This year we structured the competition differently. Rather than submit completed videos we invited creators to send in their scripts, that were either to be performed themselves, or to be produced in the Comedy Crowd Community. We received a 410 script entries which were judged by a diverse panel of comedy fans drawn from our community. The shortlisted scripts then underwent a script edit stage, aided by the expertise of comedy coach Chris Head, before production. All this took place while Covid restrictions were in place, so the achievements of these creators cannot be understated.

We screened the 16 shortlisted videos at a live streaming event, where we also heard insights from our Judging Panel on tips and trends in digital comedy. The stream is available to watch below!

So who took home the prizes? There were two awards on offer this year, the Judges Award and the Audience Award (decided by which video received the most likes online). The winners of each would take home a £250 prize…

Judges Award

‘Did You Say ‘I’m A Survivor’ by Sadie Clark

A sketch capturing the frustration of automated voice systems. The judges loved its relatability and simple but highly effective execution. A really strong performance backed up by a tight edit.

Audience Award

Table Football by Mark Bittlestone & Haydn Jenkins

Table Football just got a little too real. An inventive and funny concept with a joke heavy script, expertly performed by Mark and Haydn.
