BSL Zone are offering development funding to Deaf writers with past scriptwriting experience, to produce a 28 minute drama or comedy. They are looking for “fresh, bold and original” ideas with appeal to the BSL Zone audience.

BSL Zone are really interested in your idea, and why you want to write it. They want to know what you feel strongly about; what makes you laugh, or cry, or both at the same time. Whatever floats your boat. As long as you can express it in a 28 minute episode for television, and within the offered budget and schedule, then you’re good to go! For British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust productions, this would usually be six days of filming, and a budget of £100k-500k.

You also have a couple of options for your audience. Your television episode can be suitable for:

  • Evening, 7pm, or post-watershed slots
  • Children and families

For the full information, head on over to the British Sign Language Zone’s website. They’ve got it all there! And don’t forget to apply by midday on 18th March 2022. Go go go!

And our Opportunities Hub is here for you too. All the good stuff.
