The Phoebe Frances Brown Film Fund, established by comedy filmmaker team Mister Tibbs, will be awarding a £1000 grant to a female filmmaker with a top comedy idea.

The fund was established to celebrate the memory of writer and performer Phoebe Frances Brown, who lost her battle with brain cancer last year. It offers a grant to one talented upcoming creative who identifies as female, and who has a comedy idea they’d like to produce. That includes writers, directors, producers, performers and animators.

If your finished film is finished on or before 31st December 2023, Mister Tibbs will screen it to industry professionals in London and Manchester in January 2024.

The application process involves completing a form with the following supporting information:

  • A statement (500 words max)

In this section, the team want to learn about your filmmaking experience and career goals, including how the grant could help you creatively. They also want to hear about your comedy idea, and how the £1000 would help you bring it to life!

  • A sample of your work (eg an unmade script, previous sketch, short film or performance excerpt)

In this section, the team want to get an idea of your voice and tone. Send a sample of your work as a link if possible, rather than an attachment.

To apply, and for the full details, head over to the Mister Tibbs website.

Applications close on Friday 16th June 2023.
