We’ve got exciting new competitions giving you a chance to showcase your creative comedy talents to our special guest judges.
Write a Chort! – Deadline Friday 7th April
The challenge: Our latest competition is for those who want to write a Chort, but not perform themselves. We’re looking for 2 minute scripts that show off a comedy character.
The prize: The winners will be shared with actors groups as we support you to get them performed and show off your comedy writing on the Chorts! page.
The support: Be sure to check out this great advice from comedy coach Chris Head, who has answered some vital questions for writing a top Chort!

2050 Family Sketch Competition
The challenge: Write a 2 minute sketch about 2 characters from a family in the year 2050.
The prize: The winning sketch will be performed and filmed by Jason Flamm’s live sketch troupe “SketchPad Comedy” in the US. All entries will get brief feedback.

2×2 Sketch Writing Competition – Congratulations to Adam Martin
The competition was to write a 2 minute sketch, with 2 characters by 30th December.
The competition was judged by writer and producer Dan Tambling, with all entries receiving brief feedback.
The winner is Adam Martin, with his sketch “An Exterminator Calls”. The runner-up is Stephanie Weston with “Doubtful Director”.

Comedy Character Competition – Congratulations to Sam Picone
Jon Petrie, Producer of BAFTA nominated sitcom People Just Do Nothing, and founder of Little A Productions is the guest judge for our 2 minute comedy character competition.
The winner is Sam Picone with Just Jamie Vlogs. Check out Jamie and all the other 2 minute characters here
Twitter Joker – Congratulations to Bennet Kavanagh
We asked our members to come up with a tweetable joke about the recent story Smart household appliances stop the internet! The contest was judged by judged by writer and script editor Dan Page.
And the winner is Bennet Kavanagh with his joke…
“My toaster hacked my internet last week. Guess that explains all those photos on my laptop of bread in lingerie…”
Election Time! – and the winner is….
We set a competition for writers to come up with a humorous short news article (max 250 words) on the US election in the week of the final vote.
The result was judged by Newsthump Managing Editor Richard Smith.
